Wholesale versus Retail is a debate that is as old as man. Ok, well not that old but it does fall into a category of observation that many have tried to get to the bottom of.
I think a good place to start is the understanding of what it is exactly. To sum it up in simple terms,
wholesale means you are buying larger amount of stock at a cheaper price with the intent of possibly reselling it for a slightly marked up price, allowing yourself a bit of profit, whereas retail, is you going into your local supermarket and paying a more expensive price but with lower quantities in mind.
Millions of people all over the world are reselling wholesale items online, so choosing the best wholesale items to sell can be tricky. You need to find products that people want to buy, but you also need to find products that not many others are selling. Avoid products that nobody wants or that everybody is selling. Here are a few good niches to get you started: Umbrellas, Coffee Mugs, Jewellery, Watches, Cosmetics, Perfume, just to name a few.
Now, if you had to do a Google search for wholesalers in your area, you would be surprised as to how many results you would come across. However, not all of these shops are using wholesalers pricing which is rather annoying, so some research would need to be done first. Starting with what items are you looking to purchase, secondly comparing a couple of the products you are looking for with pricing at each of these shops will help make your decision.
In closing, it’s easy to see why many people have crossed over to the buy wholesale, and in today’s day and age, it makes even more sense to save every Rand you can.
